Connect2Compete

Families with no access to internet are faced with challenges. Many families in Macon have no internet and cannot afford computers or tablets. Connect2Compete (C2C) is EveryoneOn’s flagship program for K-12 students and provides affordable internet and devices to students and families that qualify for the National School Lunch Program. QCS (Quality Computer Systems) and Cox Communications are C2C partners in Middle Georgia.

According to Chris Howard, public affairs specialist at Cox Communications, the purpose of the program is to close the digital divide by providing discounted broadband service and computers to low-income families. Home internet access is needed for families to use for school assignments, job searches, email and so much more.

“Middle Georgia has been leading the Cox Southeast Region in C2C connects since the program’s launch,” says Howard. “The program has lessened C2C customer’s risk of becoming increasingly isolated from contemporary life because they lack internet service and the skills necessary to use it effectively.”

QCS has provided over 3000 tablets and 1000 computers through the C2C program since 2013, when the program was launched in Macon.

“We are committed to our community and we want to see every child have the opportunity to be connected to the internet,” says Brad Spiegel, president of QCS.

Recognizing the importance of a fast, reliable high speed Internet connection at home, Cox continues its partnership with the C2C program to offer deeply discounted internet service to low-income families who qualify for the program.
